I just came to the same conclusion (and blogged about it right before I read your post and found I had been scooped 😉 ), after hearing a talk on it from Josh Greenberg (one of the developers) today.
What’s even cooler is the plans for making this into a sort of scholarly social bookmarking system beginning this summer. Wikipedians collaborating on a specific article or set of articles could have a shared bibliography (and maybe even share the Zotero snapshots of restricted-access sources with other users who don’t have university access).
